What do I put in my Easy Composter?
- Ideally, a mixture of materials go in your Easy composter as that imports a lot of trace elements into the compost heap.
- Use grass clippings, weeds & leaves to fill approximately half to two thirds. That will give you heat, nitrogen & moisture.
- A sealable 5-10lt bucket is a great for loading your Easy composter as you can control the ratio of your compost.
- Store a 5-10lt sealable bucket close to your kitchen work space & keep your daily food scraps, remembering to cut the food scraps into fairly small pieces.
- Saw dust (pine if possible), if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some (you could approach a furniture manufacturer and they would gladly fill up a Hessian bag for you). Put in approx 5lt.
- Manures from cow, horse, sheep, chicken, alpaca, etc. Put in approx 5-10lt bucket full.
- There is no hard & fast rule when making compost. Remember the main ingredient is grass clippings & the rest is what you have available or what you can get your hands
